Essential Submission Guidelines

To maintain the highest standards of exhibition and fairness, we ask all applicants to adhere strictly to the following guidelines. Please read these carefully before hitting send.

1. Eligibility & Timeline

We are looking for fresh perspectives. Only films completed between 2023 and 2025 are eligible for entry. Please note that if your film was screened at a previous edition of CMFF, it cannot be resubmitted.

2. Technical Specifications & Format

Quality is paramount. To ensure your work looks stunning on the big screen, please follow these requirements:

  • Format: We accept high-quality formats including MP4 & MOV
  • Resolution: A minimum of 1080p is required for optimal screening.
  • Language: We celebrate diversity! However, if your film is in a language other than Hindi or English, it must include English subtitles.

3. Category Time Limits

  • Short Films: Must be 45 minutes or less.
  • Feature Films: Must be 90 minutes or longer.
  • Note: Please ensure your documentary or animation entry is clearly categorized based on its runtime.

4. The Legal Essentials (Censor & Rights)

  • Censor Certificate: Every film screened must have a mandatory censor certificate. If your film is currently in the process of being certified or you do not have one, you must inform the committee in advance.
  • Originality: Your work must be original. CMFF holds a zero-tolerance policy for copyright infringement.
  • Screening Rights: By submitting, you grant CMFF the right to screen your film during the event and use snippets for promotional purposes.

How to Apply: The Step-by-Step Process

We’ve streamlined our submission process to be as straightforward as possible. Submissions must be sent to our designated email address. Incomplete submissions will be disqualified, so please use this checklist to ensure you have everything ready:

The Digital Package

  • Accessible Link: Provide a download link (Google Drive, with download access)
  • Crucial: Ensure this link remains active until the very end of the festival.
  • Visual Assets: Include high-resolution posters, working stills from the set, and the Director’s photograph.
  • The Trailer: High-quality teasers or trailers for promotional use.

The Documentation

To help our jury understand your vision, please include:

  • Film Title & Synopsis: A brief, compelling summary of your story.
  • Identity Verification: A copy of the Director’s Aadhar Card.
  • No Objection Letter: A formal letter granting CMFF permission to promote your film on our social media handles.

Administrative Details

  • Month & Year of completion.
  • Total duration (Runtime).
  • Chosen category and language.
  • Valid mobile number & email for communication.

Important Policies to Remember

  • The Final Word: The selection committee’s decision is final. We appreciate the hard work that goes into every frame, but we cannot contest the jury’s choices.
  • Commitment: Once a film is selected and the filmmaker is notified, the film cannot be withdrawn from the festival lineup.
  • Deadlines: Time is of the essence. No entries will be accepted after the final submission deadline. (Check our official countdown for the exact date!)
